We have a Business Unit in charge of manufacturing canned tuna and tuna in pouches, and of processing small pelagics for the most demanding markets in Europe and the Americas. Annually, we process 45,000 MTs of tuna and have our own fleet of 21 purse seiners. This business unit also has an Integrated Management System that takes care of quality and process certifications as well as CSR. Additionally, we are part of the TUNACONS group, which, in association with WWF Ecuador, and are heading up a FIP for the seiner fleet in the Eastern Pacific Ocean (EPO) in
Another of our business units is dedicated to processing frozen fish for export. Is the only company in South America with Ultra Freezing that maintains a temperature of -50ºC throughout the whole process. This unit has a processing capacity of 5,000 MTs per year and has its own fleet of 6 long liners and 5 purse seiners. It also has an Integrated Management System that involves the management of quality and process certifications; In Ecuador, Transmarina, along with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), is leading a fishing improvement initiative for its long-line fishing fleet, which will help us to obtain a Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification.
Business unit in charge of freezing pelagics at -18ºC in freezing tunnels or via IQF (Individual Quick Freezing). This unit has a processing capacity of 30,000MTs per year for whole fish processed in ten kilogram blocks.
Transmarina del Perú has industrial facilities in Paracas in the province of Pisco, department of Ica, Peru. These facilities consist of an industrial DHC complex for hydro-biologists and have preserving and canning lines as well as indoor docking facilities for the unloading of traditionally-caught fish. It is expected that 12,000MTs of different types of fish, such as tuna, giant squid, and anchoveta, as well as other fish caught in the area, will be processed annually. The refrigerated warehouses at the facilities have a capacity of 4500MTs.
The group owns the second-largest fishing-boat fleet in Ecuador, which, between purse seiners and long liners provide more than 70% of the fish that is processed in various production plants. For sashimi quality tuna, the long liner fleet maintains a temperature of -60ºC throughout the cold chain from the moment the fish are caught. The seiner fleet is equipped with an RSW system that ensures the quality of all its products. Each vessel is part of a FIP that is being worked on to obtain and MSC certification.
Tristan International is the USA Sales Division of Transmarina, CA. Opening in 2002, Tristan imports several species from Transmarina including Tuna, Swordfish, Mahi-Mahi and Wahoo. These species are cut per specification and shipped to Tristan in both Ultra Low Temperature containers (-60c) and normal frozen containers (-25c). Tristan receives, processes and packs orders for pickup and delivery from its HACCP certified facility in Dania Beach Florida. These products are shipped to Restaurants, Wholesalers, Distributors, and Retailers across the United States.
